Real Madrid emphatic 7-1 victory over Celta Vigo; Ronaldo shines with his four goals

No matter if Real Madrid is winning titles these days or not, or if they are anyway looking to take away any big silverware this season, they have always been in the news for their firing forward line and this time too when everyone is talking about Ronaldo’s recent media statement where he grossly presented himself way better than anyone else in the side, this Portuguese guy did it again. He scored a four-goal haul in the last 7-1 crushing victory over Celta Vigo at home. It was the first time Real were paying in home ground after shocking 1-0 defeat to Atletico and expectedly when they entered into the field whole crowd hooted them for the way they were overcome by the city mate. But anyways, 31-year-old former Manchester United forward was not in a mood to give it away that easy and he almost devastated the Eduardo Berizzo defense. Although, first half was rather a nail biting one when none of the side could manage to score the net except Pepe who just hit the touchline before the half time.

Second half was the one to look for where Ronaldo scored four goals in 25 minutes to take his side at invincible position; his tally this season has now touched 252 goals in just 228 La Liga games! Then, Jese Rodriguez and Gareth Bale added some cherries to their lead and fans started bucking up their side. Looking at this performance, manager Zidane said, “I will stick with his performance. It’s part of football that the fans whistle sometimes, not just Cristiano. It is like that. These are demanding fans who know the game well and always want more from their players. That is good to improve, to do more, and we always need to do more.

“Then, you all know Cristiano — he is capable of putting in four. Few can do that. He is unique. It is unique. It is something that just he has. You say I hit it well … maybe from closer in, and I never scored four goals, so I don’t know the feeling. Few players can have that feeling. He is at Madrid, he is strong, he is able to score goals in about 30 minutes. I cannot explain more than that. I am happy when I see him scoring goals.”

Adding about the change in mood of the crowd and how they began applauding home side, 43-year-old Frenchman added, “There was something said at half-time, of course, but in the first half the opponent played too. They are a good team. We knew it would be difficult to play well for 90 minutes. In the second half we came out very strong, pressed more up front, and then always when you score a goal it is easier.”

Ronaldo credits his well-maintained fitness for a flourishing ten-year career

I want to keep up my momentum. I think my level is the same in the last 10 years. I just want to keep doing the same with Real Madrid, winning trophies for the team as well as individual prizes so that my fans can be happy with Cristiano. That’s my motivation.

“We had a really good performance in Roma with two goals but now is going to be another game at home. We have a good advantage but you can not trust, we have to win playing well to get the next Champions League round. That’s what we want.”

Real Madrid beat Sporting Gijon amid injuries to Gareth Bale and Benzema

The biggest concern for every new manager joining a big side has ever been the injuries that could hamper his success rate to the worst and Real Madrid’s newly appointed boss Zinedine Zidane seems not interested that anything like this happens to him hence he is not weighing Gareth Bale’s latest calf injury that mush, in fact, 43-year-old Frenchman is confident Bale would join them back soon after an impressive show in the Sunday’s 5-1 La Liga win over Sporting Gijon at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Actually, Bale’s form has ever been a cause of concern for everyone at Real and now when he is showing a sign of improvement, his injuries are not letting him perform with his full caliber. He was the one who opened the score tally for his side in the last game making his personal total to eleven in eight played games. Alongside, he got the full support of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema who as well scored two goals each to take Real’s lead to 5-0 at one time. Although, El Molinón side showed some resistance thereafter and shredded off one goal but it was too late by then.

The 26-year-old Wales international did not impart in the second half for his injury and his comeback has since been skeptical but after early medical scans it is now cleared he can join the team sooner than expected. Talking about the game and how they played at home, Zidane said in the post-match news conference, “We played a very good first half, very plugged in, very focused from the start. We prepared well. We are happy with how the game went. First half was spectacular, but we are going to improve. We have to improve a lot, and we will do that. What we want is to win games, but above all at end of the season, as that is when all is decided.

“Obviously it is a fantastic start, to score five goals twice is not easy at all. But I know the team we have, what we can do, what we will do in the future. I expect a lot from this team. To win many games and to win a trophy at the end of the season. This was against Sporting, we will have difficult games, as the season goes on, for sure.”

Florentino Perez backs Rafa Benitez to continue as coach

Life is not easy when you are associated with a big side especially when you do not have experience of mentoring a reigning club containing more world class players than ever and this is something that seems to be happening with Real Madrid’s newly appointed manager Rafa Benitez who is now feeling pressure of guiding players who have long been a brand in themselves. Until last week, 55-year-old Spanish was enjoying his stay at Santiago Bernabéu but after a humiliating defeat to arch rival Barcelona he along with President Florentino Perez faced fans’ embarrassing chants asking them to resign from their posts. However, no one listened anything against Ronaldo during the whole game suggesting fans are still with Portuguese despite rumors of him linking with former side Manchester United. Anyways, this is the right time for President Florentino Perez to back his manager and rightly so he guarded his new head coach amid rising demand of his sacking on his reported difference with Ronaldo.

Reportedly, Real dressing room is not happy with the way Benítez is managing club affairs and according to players vibe, they want club’s B-team coach Zinedine Zidane to take over the former Nepoli boss. Talking about manager and if they are thinking of his sacking after reported difference with teammates, Perez said, “We have analysed the sports situation. Real Madrid coach Rafa Benitez has all our support and trust. The solution to this is Rafa Benitez. We signed him to turn things around. We think he is the right person. But we must let him work — not listen to those making up lies that board doesn’t want him, or the players don’t want him.

“He has a good relationship with the players, with the board, and me in particular. We understand the anger of fans after Saturday, but ask for support for our players. It is not habitual for us to be permanently denying things (Benitez sacking). But I understand that there are some journalists who want to destabilise us. On Saturday, a sports paper from Madrid said that according to Radio Montecarlo I had dinner with the PSG president and — what’s his name — Jorge Mendes to talk about Cristiano.

“There are people who lie to damage Real Madrid. They think that, without me, they would have more influence in the club. I could say many more things. Never has Cristiano Ronaldo said to me ‘With this coach, or this club, we will win nothing.’ has never said anything about anyone, he is a good guy, all that comes out about me wanting to sell him, meeting with people, is people wanting to destabilise the club. It happens every day.”

Ronaldo ensures timely release of his documentary: “Ronaldo”
